24 hour Walmart

You know you're not single anymore....when you are frequently running up to the 24 hour Walmart at late night...a few nights ago your son's allergies were bothering him and you had to run to Walmart to get some Benadryl...After dinner the next day, you drop by Walmart to pick up some milk and OJ....You go to the movies on a Friday night with your son and your wife texts you to go by Walmart to return a curtain rod...You realize you now personally know June and Amy, the Walmart greeters and you think you might send them Christmas cards this year...Even though you rarely shopped at Walmart a year ago, you notice that your wallet is full of Walmart receipts and you have quietly been converted into a Walmart cost-cutting shopper.

Pay Attention!

You know you're not single anymore...when you realize that everything your wife says to the kids in your presence, you are supposed to remember...or at least it's a good idea to know what the conversation is about...For example, in the car, you've been driving without paying attention to some of the conversations going on partly because you're still getting used to the new terrain around your new home...but when your wife says "remember we did talk about this yesterday in the car" and you haven't a clue what she's talking about, you quickly realize you could get in trouble for not knowing what's going on....You now know that you being quiet while the conversation is going on means you are quietly showing approval of the family decision whatever it is...and in this case you don't even know what you just approved!....So you add a new rule in your life: if it's talked about in front of you, even if it doesn't seem to remotely involve you, still pay attention!

Late hour duty

You know you're not single anymore... when your wife wakes you at 1:40 AM because she hears a noise...she nudges you to get up and make sure the house is still secure...when you were single you would have your dog with you but tonight the dog is in your son's room...in any case you venture out and close every window of the house...everything's secure and it's time to go back to bed.

Too Many Clothes

You know you're not single anymore...when your wife points out that you have more clothes than she does...in fact the nice walk-in closet to your new house gets so full that you and your wife have to spend the day looking for a new dresser for her clothes to go in...of course you might as well get the mirror that goes with it, too....and your wife mentions that a new nightstand table would finish out the room...you realize later that all you had to do was get rid of some of your clothes to make room...but you think your wife had a secret plan for new furniture...at least everyone is happy now.

Furniture Purge

You know you're not single anymore...when you realize a lot of your old furniture and stuff does not fit in your new house...and when I say "does not fit" I mean in the feng shui kind of way...right now the coffee table is sitting on the front porch ready to go back to storage...your favorite recliner for the den is now in the master bedroom...most of your coffee mugs have disappeared especially the ones with Renaissance painting angels on them (never really cared for those anyways)...of course you realize that the goal is to eventually replace all furniture with stuff your wife has picked out...in the meantime you are in a mix-breed house of a little of hers, a little of his, and some of both.

Georgia (was) On My Mind

You know you're not single anymore....when you now live in another state...no literally, you are no longer in the State that you grew up and lived in for your entire life...you recognize that this adventure is just the beginning and you are excited about the new identity you can start in your new life...you look forward to your new job, your new house, your new friends you will meet soon, and your new church...You've always wondered what it would be like to start over with your life and you know you've been given a perfect opportunity.
