Snacks

You know you're not single anymore...when you tell your kids to get a few of their favorite snacks at the grocery store while your wife is away on her two day trip and you end up paying $48...You remember when you would pay $48 for ten day's worth of groceries!...You realize that you had asked your kids to grab some cereal and you look down and there are 6 boxes of different kinds of cereal, of which two boxes were quickly returned...It's not that your kids have even chosen junk food, but rather they pick the best brands even though you have gotten used to store brands since you've been married with kids!

Chore Master

You know you're not single anymore...when while your wife is out of town, you become the "chore master" and give your kids several chores to finish...You daughter feels (with a wink) that since she will have to go to work today, she should be exempt from chores...You chuckle and say "welcome to the real world!"...Meanwhile, your wife has created a chore list for the kids, too, so there's plenty of things for them to do....Hopefully, she will come home to a clean house and some exhausted kids!

Out of Town

You know you're not single anymore...when your wife goes out of town to visit a friend and you really don't know what to do...You've entertained the kids with a movie and now they are off getting ready for bed...You now realize you are used to spending some time talking with your wife about her day or she asks about your day...Instead you think about all the stuff you really need to get done but right now you don't feel like doing any of it...You just know that you'll be much happier when she returns because all is right in the world when she is there next to you.

Power Outage

You know you're not single anymore...when the power goes out at your house during the storm, you have someone there to play UNO with a lantern...When it becomes apparent that the power will be out for most of the evening, you cook hotdogs and pineapple kabobs on the grill...Add some potato chips and Nutty Bars, you have a camp-out meal for your family... You get through the rest of the evening with candles and open windows to have air circulate...Of course there's a 2 AM drill to run turn off lights in the middle of the night when the power does come back on!...You have a sleepy family but you made a great memory in the process.

First Shave

You know you're not single anymore...when you teach your son how to shave for the first time...You ask him how it felt and he says that "I feel like I am finally a man!"...And true enough, you have watched your son in less than two years go from a child to a young man practically overnight...You are amazed to consider that you came into his life at such an important transition...but that transition was not just about him but also about you becoming a "Dad"...You just know that God has given you the opportunity to guide and lead this young man into becoming all that he was designed and created to be for God...and that humbles you greatly.
