Work days

You know you're not single anymore...when Saturdays become work days around the house...You realize parts of the weekend are the only times everyone is home at the same time...You find yourself waking up and making lists of projects you want the kids to work on that Saturday morning...You never realized that you have been training to be a manager all of your life...You do enjoy working with the kids...they have such a great attitude when asked to do chores (no exaggeration!)...and you look forward to finishing so that the family can have a fun night and a fun Sunday!

Softball Schedule

You know you're not single anymore...when you get your daughter's softball schedule and it suddenly hits you that you'll be staying after school for another 3 hours longer every day...It's not that you are totally surprised by this but rather that it's becoming a daily reality...At least you know you don't have to worry about bringing your papers home for grading...ever...You also know you'll be there to spend some quality time with your daughter after practice because many nights it will be dinner time.

Cars For Kids

You know you're not single anymore...when your kids are already asking what kind of car you're going to buy them...You love to tell them that you've already got their car for them in the form of your 12 year old truck and that the real question should be what kind of truck are you going to buy when you give them your old truck!...Meanwhile as they dream bigger, you quickly point out that they need to start saving now.

Just Like Dad

You know you're not single anymore...when you find yourself responding to your children just like your Dad used to respond to you...Dishes cannot remain in the sink but must go in the dishwasher...Why?  Well, that's what you had to do when growing up...Beds have to be made each day...Yet you really freak out when you find yourself having conversations with your son in the exact same tone as when your Dad would talk to you....Sometimes that's good...Yet sometimes you find yourself repeating the exact same things to him you used to hate for your Dad to say to you...and that's not something you're proud of at all...You at least take a conscious effort to treat your son in a way that guides him without frustrating him, too....and when you catch yourself doing what you used to hate you realize it is best to apologize for your tone.

Shuttle Service

You know you're not single anymore...when your evenings are spent more in the car as a shuttle service between taking your son to football practice and back and taking your daughter to her job and back...You realize you could easily turn your truck into a mobile office to get some of your work done...You also notice that the town coffee shop is conveniently located between your son's practice fields and your daughter's workplace in which case you might become a frequent customer...In fact, they already know your name...In either case, you're starting to think that you might wait 10 years and give your kids receipts for mileage reimbursement...Meanwhile, you love the extra few minutes you spend with your kids in between activities.

Towels

You know you're not single anymore...when you are not used to your bath towel being washed more frequently than you used to wash it and so you sometimes forget to check if you have a towel when you get out of the shower...Granted that puts you in a rather awkward position if you do not have a towel to dry off with and you do prefer modesty (to both your wife's and daughter's preference) when you walk around in your house searching for a clean towel that might be in the laundry room...Admittedly you used to wait to wash your towel a lot longer than you really care to admit on this blog so you used to not think to check for a towel beforehand...Yet now you are thankful for clean towels and the efforts your wife takes to daily provide for the family...it is a luxury you are quickly appreciating.
